Greetings Comrades, Brothers and Sisters!

In our last communication we were unsure when VFW's would be allowed to open under phase two directives. Opening under the social distancing guidelines and limited capacity may be  normal for the immediate future. We all need to be safe and consider the health of others. With the present rising number of cases, we have seen some members not venturing out and socializing like months ago. Last month I stated I would inform everyone of appointed and volunteer officers and their function. The Post House Committee Chairperson is John Murphy who will conduct his meetings and mentor the canteen and kitchen supervisors to better serve the VFW. John is also the Commander of your post Honor Guard for funerals and flag dedications. The Post Media Committee is Ron Palfrey who provides updates on our Facebook page, updates the post website, updates post media monitors in the canteen, assembles all the data for your VFW Compass, and assists with flyers and posters as needed, just to name a few. Post Adjutant Scott Finnell is responsible for all correspondence of meetings, membership application files, post activity reporting, among other duties in post and national by-laws. Bingo Chairperson Rafael Pantoja has requested to continue with the assistance of Mark Price. The post's committee chairs and members volunteer countless hours to the success of your post. A few last comments from myself; prior to the shutdown the post was having a raffle to raise funds for the building fund, each ticket is eligible for the monthly drawing of $50.00. So sell/buy the tickets. If every member had 2 tickets they would be gone!! According to post by-laws our key or entrance cards need to be updated so over the next few months we are updating our database and you may be asked to show your card and  VFW / Auxiliary membership card. FYI. Sunday August 16 is District 18 Meeting at our post and we will be closed until after 3:00PM. Remember VFW Post 4287 is an LZ zone for all veterans, auxiliary and guests and the "Vets place in Town!"
